FWPD: Vehicle Theft Network Investigation

News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:

Vehicle Theft Network Investigation

Today, the Fort Wayne Police Department executed a total of seven search warrants, six homes and one business, in the city of Fort Wayne. This was the result of a long term investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Neighborhood Response Team (NRT), a specialty unit targeting career criminals or focusing on unique crimes. The seven search warrants were simultaneously executed with the assistance of the Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives Bureau, and the Fort Wayne Police Department Emergency Services Team, Gang Unit, Street Crimes Unit, and Auto Theft Unit. The execution of these warrants today uncovered what is believed to be an extensive vehicle theft network. Detectives located multiple stolen vehicles, multiple stolen motorcycles, a trailer, and many automobile and motorcycle parts and pieces.

Several individuals were detained during this investigation and were interviewed. No arrests have been made and charges are forthcoming.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional information will be released as it is confirmed. There is nothing further at this time.
