Bank Robbery Investigation Update

Victim: Freedom Financial Federal Credit Union

Loss: Undetermined Cash Loss

On Monday, August 27, at approximately 9:33 pm, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Freedom Financial Federal Credit Union at 1802 Inwood Drive reference a report of bank robbery. The investigation has revealed that earlier in the evening, an employee of the Credit Union encountered two male black subjects at her home as she arrived there from work. The two perpetrators blind-folded and tied-up the female employee, and held her captive until after dark, and then returned with her to the Credit Union forcing her inside and gaining access to cash. The two suspects then fled the Credit Union in the employee’s vehicle leaving her at the Credit Union. The employee was reportedly not injured.

The employee’s vehicle, a grey-colored Chevy Impala, which was used as a get-away vehicle, was later discovered unoccupied in the area of Manford Street and Fruehauf Drive, Fort Wayne. This vehicle will be processed by our Crime Scene Technicians for any possible evidence. Anyone who may have been in the area of Manford Street and Fruehauf Drive in the evening and who may have witnessed any activity that could be related to this investigation is asked to contact the police.

Detectives are presently investigating the possibility of any available video surveillance. At this time, suspect descriptions are not available. We encourage anyone with information about this incident to contact the City of Fort Wayne Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 800-237-STOP (7867). A cash reward is possible for information received at Crime Stoppers.

This incident remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force. The task force is composed of members of the following law enforcement agencies: City of Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Sheriff Department, Indiana State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
