HU once again named a ‘Top College’ by Forbes

(HUNTINGTON, Ind., August 1, 2012) — Huntington University has once again been named one of “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes.

In the results released today, Huntington was seventh out of 18 public and private institutions ranked in Indiana. Forbes included 650 schools from across the country in its rankings.

The rankings are based on five general categories: post graduate success (which evaluates alumni pay and prominence); student satisfaction (which includes professor evaluations and freshman to sophomore year retention rates); debt (which penalizes schools for high student debt loads and default rates); four-year graduation rate; and competitive awards (which rewards schools whose students win prestigious scholarships and fellowships like the Rhodes, the Marshall and the Fulbright or go on to earn a Ph.D). The rankings are compiled for Forbes by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

This is the fifth year for the Forbes rankings. The rankings are available online at www.forbes.com/top-colleges.

Huntington consistently ranks as one of the top schools in the Midwest. On its 2012 list, U.S. News & World Report ranked Huntington ninth in the Midwest in the magazine’s guide to “America’s Best Colleges,” and 10th in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category for best-value colleges in the Midwest. The Princeton Review has also named Huntington a “Best Midwestern College.”

Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest, and Forbes.com has listed the university as one of America’s Best Colleges. Additionally, Princeton Review has named the institution to its “Best in the Midwest” list. Founded in 1897 by the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, Huntington University is located on a contemporary, lakeside campus in northeast Indiana. The university is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
