HU once again named a ‘Top College’ by Forbes

(HUNTINGTON, Ind., August 1, 2012) — Huntington University has once again been named one of “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes.

In the results released today, Huntington was seventh out of 18 public and private institutions ranked in Indiana. Forbes included 650 schools from across the country in its rankings.

The rankings are based on five general categories: post graduate success (which evaluates alumni pay and prominence); student satisfaction (which includes professor evaluations and freshman to sophomore year retention rates); debt (which penalizes schools for high student debt loads and default rates); four-year graduation rate; and competitive awards (which rewards schools whose students win prestigious scholarships and fellowships like the Rhodes, the Marshall and the Fulbright or go on to earn a Ph.D). The rankings are compiled for Forbes by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

This is the fifth year for the Forbes rankings. The rankings are available online at

Huntington consistently ranks as one of the top schools in the Midwest. On its 2012 list, U.S. News & World Report ranked Huntington ninth in the Midwest in the magazine’s guide to “America’s Best Colleges,” and 10th in the “Great Schools, Great Prices” category for best-value colleges in the Midwest.
