Stutzman votes for clean slate

News release from Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s office:

Stutzman Votes for Clean Slate
Repealing President’s health care law paves way for true, patient-centered reforms

(Washington, D.C., July 11, 2012) – Today, Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03) issued the following statement on the passage of H.R. 6079, the Repeal of Obamacare Act.

“The patient-doctor relationship is built on trust, not government complexity,” said Stutzman, a cosponsor of the bill. “Unfortunately, the President’s health care law puts unelected bureaucrats, like the Independent Payment Advisory Board, between patients and their doctors. Americans deserve choices, not top-down controls.”

“This is the largest tax increase in American history and, if Congress doesn’t act, the health care law will hurt families and small businesses during the weakest recovery since the Great Depression. Nearly three-fourths of small businesses say that the law makes it more difficult for them to hire more employees. In fact, the law’s misguided tax on medical devices could cost Indiana more than 2,000 jobs. Hoosiers deserve better. I’m committed to repealing this red tape mess and enacting genuine reforms that put patients first.”

Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana and serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. Indiana’s 3rd District contains all of DeKalb, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley counties, as well as parts of Allen and Elkhart counties. Website.
