News release from Parkview Health:

Parkview receives award from Indiana Lions Eye & Tissue Transplant Bank

(July 10, 2012) — The Indiana Lions Eye & Tissue Transplant Bank today presented its “VISION” Award to Parkview Hospital for demonstrating leadership and a commitment to the Lions’ donor program.

The keys to Parkview’s success have been directly related to the commitment of hospital staff who understand the impact they have in the lives of others, and the nursing and chaplaincy staff who provide great care to patients and families.

The goal of any donor program is to ensure that every individual and family is presented with the opportunity to become a donor. Parkview has established a program that ensures this while maintaining the dignity of donors and their families.

In 2011, Parkview Hospital was responsible for making a difference in the lives of over 204 individuals through the gift of sight, which was more than any other hospital in Indiana.

In the past five years, more than 722 people have had cornea transplants thanks to the Parkview program.
