Critical Injury Motorcycle Accident

Victim: Adult Male / Motorcycle Operator / Critical Condition

On Thursday, July 5, 2012, at approximately 1:51 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Nuttman Avenue reference a critical injury accident. Officers arrived on scene and discovered the crash involved a single motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition by TRAA paramedics.

Preliminary reports indicate the motorcycle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and the motorcycle operator lost control of the bike upon crossing the railroad tracks in the 2900 block of Nuttman Avenue. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and he suffered severe head trauma.

At this time, speed has been identified as a contributing factor in this single-vehicle accident, and other possible contributing factors remain under investigation. Nuttman Avenue remained closed to all traffic while the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (F.A.C.T) investigated the incident and processed the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
