IPFW RiverFest 2012 TM Features Beach Party, River Sculpture

(June 22, 2012) – Details of IPFW RiverFest 2012 presented by Steel Dynamics were revealed at a news conference this morning along the banks of the St. Joseph River on the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne campus.

New to the festival is a Beach Party, sponsored by 3 Rivers Federal Credit Union and Weigand Construction, featuring tons of sand, games, water events, and sand volleyball.

Another new element to the festival was unveiled this morning—a sculpture by Fort Wayne artist and IPFW art instructor Sayaka Ganz,
sponsored by Omnisource. Each of Ganz’s sculptures is made up of hundreds of pieces of objects that have been used and thrown away. Some of the pieces in this new sculpture are from the St. Joseph River. The sculpture, which is located near the river, will become a permanent part of the campus landscape.

IPFW RiverFest is tomorrow, Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the IPFW campus.
