Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana Announces 2012-13 Board of Directors

(June 18, 2012) Sixteen young professionals have been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI). The new board will serve during YLNI’s upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2012, and lasts through June 30, 2013.

YLNI is a group of young professionals whose aim is to engage the community and make a positive impact on the places where they live and work. The mission of the 1,000-plus person network is to attract, develop and retain emerging leaders through community, professional and social engagement. The Board of Directors, which meets monthly, is the governing body of YLNI whose big-picture approach is to guide the organization to fulfill its mission.

The 2012-2013 Board of Directors consist of the following members:

· Lisa Updike, President

· Sam Graves, Vice President

· Dave Wagley, Treasurer

· Amy Johnson, Secretary

· Mike King, Executive Committee Director at Large

· YaVonda Ulfig, Vice President of Membership

· Justin Shurley, Vice President of Leadership Development

· Melissa Beber, Vice President of Community Impact

· Andy Welfle, Vice President of Communications

· Justin Clupper, Vice President of Social Programming

· Nick Medhikhan, Vice President of Fund Development

· Pone Vongphachanh, Director at Large, Community Impact

· Dan Swartz, Director at Large, Fund Development

· Kim Carpenter, Director at Large, Membership

· Stephanie Veit, Director at Large, Leadership Development

· Sarah Arnold, Director at Large, Communications

The board’s day-to-day activities include a variety of tasks, such as planning and approving events, securing funding, and serving as advocates for the young professional demographic.

“This slate is an energetic bunch and is excited to take the reins in the coming fiscal year,” said Lisa Updike, YLNI President. “We appreciate all the hard work our Board of Directors underwent put in last year and are eager to see what ideas and perspectives our new board has for continuing to position YLNI for future growth and success.”
