The beach comes to IPFW RiverFest 2012

News release from IPFW:

The Beach Comes to IPFW RiverFest 2012 TM

What better way to celebrate a great summer Saturday than at the beach? Saturday, June 23, some of the parking lots along the St. Joseph River at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will become beaches, thanks to IPFW RiverFest 2012 TM, presented by Steel Dynamics. RiverFest is a one-day festival celebrating our rivers with boating, music, art, family, food, and fun along the St. Joseph River on the IPFW campus

The all-new Beach Party, which is sponsored by 3Rivers Federal Credit Union and K-105 FM, will feature a number of new activities such as a sand play area, kiddie paddleboats, a corn hole tournament, water hamster balls, as well as a bungee jump.

Also new this year is sand volleyball. Everyone’s invited to grab some friends or jump in and try the popular sport of sand volleyball! The two sand volleyball courts will feature open play and organized tournaments all day. Players can sign up to play as an individual or team. Pre-register online or register onsite. The tournament entry fee is $10 per player per tournament.

Another new addition to RiverFest 2012 will be the River Sculpture by Sayaka Ganz, sponsored by Omnisource. Ganz is on the Fine Arts faculty at IPFW and creates sculptures out of reclaimed objects. Her talent turns everything from spatulas to plastic tableware into enchanting and engaging reflections of nature. She will build a work of art from scrap materials and river debris for RiverFest.

There’s plenty for everybody in the family to see and do at IPFW RiverFest. Whether you want to go wild with the outdoors or relax with a brew and some tunes, IPFW RiverFest has something for you.
