Allen County GOP Welcomes Democrats to Fort Wayne

During the Democrat convention, the Allen County GOP will air a commercial, entitled “Do You Remember?” The 60-second commercial will air on Fort Wayne broadcast and cable stations. It will also be available on YouTube and through the Allen County GOP’s web site and Facebook page.
Campaign hype can’t trump 8 years of Republican Results
While Indiana Democrats are in Fort Wayne for their 2012 state convention, Allen County Republicans will remind voters of the positive legacy of the past 8 years of Republican leadership. At the same time, the Allen County GOP will deliver a message that Democrat delegates won’t hear: The desperate condition of Indiana inherited by Republicans following 16 years of Democrat control of state government.
“Election hype is a poor substitute for reality,” said Allen County GOP Chairman Steve Shine. “The Democrat state convention is a great time for us to remind Hoosiers that their trust in Republican leadership has been rewarded with state government that is less costly, more responsive and more professional than ever before. Two days of hyperbole can’t change that.”

Shine also noted the avalanche of improvements Republicans have brought to Indiana government under Governor Daniels, most notably a halt of the state’s budget collapse, turning a $700 million deficit into a budget surplus that has sparked talk of a taxpayer refund.
Indiana’s work to modernize and market its economic development efforts, as well as implementation of the Major Moves transportation infrastructure program, blunted the impact of the recession that ravaged jobs in neighboring states. When Illinois raised taxes to balance its budget, Indiana was in a position to lure jobs across the border with a far more inviting business climate.
Shine acknowledged the contributions Indiana Democrats will make to Allen County’s convention and tourism industry, reminding them of the bounty of sights and entertainment to be enjoyed while they are in the community. But when the party’s over, he said, the real work carries on.
“When you leave, we will still be here,” Shine said. “Republicans will still be working each and every day to represent Northeast Indiana by supporting policies that ignite our economic engines rather than stifle growth and productivity.”
“All across Indiana, from the Statehouse to the Courthouse, Republicans view elected office not as the spoils of victory, but as a pact with the public to make the government better, faster and more affordable”, Shine said. “In Allen County, voters have trusted a majority of elected offices to Republicans for a generation, not out of tradition, but because of the results they get”, he added.
“Indiana Democrats will use their convention to try to convince voters that they know a better way,” Shine said. “Voters have 8 years’ worth of reasons to believe that’s not the case.”
