Several dealerships taking on heart health in Fort Wayne
Dealerships donating for every car they sell, plus Glenbrook Dodge will host a free heart health eventThe American Heart Association has long said that walking is good for your heart. Now buying a new vehicle can also benefit the heart health of Fort Wayne area residents.
Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep & Fiat is one of several car dealerships that are partnering with the American Heart Association in Fort Wayne for the Driving Our Community To Healthier Hearts campaign over the next several months. The campaign will raise thousands of dollars to help fund for lifesaving research and educational programs for the American Heart Association.
Glenbrook Dodge is making a $10 donation to the American Heart Association for every car it sells in in April and May. The dealership is also providing customers with material from the American Heart Association that explains the risk for stroke, how to recognize the signs of a stroke, and how to lower your risk for this disease.
Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep & Fiat is also hosting a free heart health event for the public on June 9 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at 100 W Coliseum Boulevard, Fort Wayne. Attendees can enjoy a free lunch, receive a free blood pressure screening, pick up health tips from the American Heart Association and enter to win various prizes including a mini football signed by several Indianapolis Colts players. The first 50 attendees receive a Colts license plate cover. Glenbrook Dodge will present a check to American Heart Association at 1:30 p.m.
“Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of disability,” said Matt McKibben, General Manager of Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep & Fiat. “Because it impacts so many people in our community, Glenbrook Dodge wants to do its part to fight this disease and help everyone lower their risk for having a stroke.”
Two other dealerships in the area will host similar promotions this summer leading up to the Northeast Indiana Heart Walk.
In June, Summit City Chevrolet, 5200 Illinois Road, will make a donation to the American Heart Association for every car it sells throughout the month. It will also distribute material to its customers that focuses on children’s heart health.
Bart’s Car Store in Columbia City, 3536 E Lincolnway, will make a donation to the American Heart Association for cars it sells in June, plus it will distribute information on the association’s Life’s Simple 7 program. The Bart’s Car Store in Fort Wayne, 5530 Illinois Road, will pick up the promotion in July, making a donation to the for every car they sell that month and distributing the Life’s Simple 7 material.
