Date / Time of Incident: May 1, 2012 / 5:40 a.m.

Location of Incident: 800 Blackthorn Cove

This morning, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a home in the 800 block of Blackthorn Cove reference a report of shots fired into a home. A resident reported that he was awakened by the sound of what he believed to be gunfire. Upon further inspection, he discovered two holes in a rear window of the home. The homeowner reported that soon after hearing the gunfire and seeing the holes in his window, he observed a subject riding a bicycle on the sidewalk in the rear of his home. No injuries were reported at the scene.

A department canine unit attempted a track from the rear of the home which continued to track southeast down a sidewalk, then eastbound to a dead end in the area of 1000 Ivy Creek Cove.

Investigators are exploring the possibility that this incident may be related to a shooting investigation that occurred on March 27, 2012 in the nearby Shorewood subdivision as the shooting victim of the March 27 Shorewood incident and the homeowner from this morning’s incident are both employed by the same law firm.

Suspect Information: At this time, there is no suspect information or a description. Investigators did canvass the area this morning and made contact with some residents.
