American Heart Association Celebrates 30 Years of You’re the Cure Network
(April 30, 2012) – The American Heart Association is marking the 30th Anniversary of its You’re the Cure network with a recruitment call out to Northeast Indiana residents. You’re the Cure members advocate on behalf of the American Heart/American Stroke Association for sound public policy aimed at reducing heart disease and stroke.
“You don’t have to be a doctor to save lives – just an advocate with the American Heart Association willing speak out to lawmakers about our nation’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers, heart disease and stroke,” said Wendy King, Regional Vice President of Communications for the American Heart Association. “With just a few clicks, you can make a big difference by responding to action alerts on the issues most important to you.”
As a You’re the Cure advocate, you’ll receive updates on public policy affecting our heart health, then be asked to Email, fax, call or even visit your legislators.
Thanks to the dedication and action of You’re the Cure advocates, the American Heart Association has been able to advance policy changes to help build healthier communities and healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Successes have included the passage of the Affordable Heathcare Act, securing FDA regulation of tobacco, the banning of smoking on airplanes, and the passage of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act to fight childhood obesity.
