Public Hearing on sale of county-owned property – 11/18/2011

News release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:

Sale of County-Owned Property Subject of Public Hearing
Commissioners to conduct hearing Nov. 18

(November 14, 2011) — The potential sale of two pieces of property owned by Allen County government will be the subject of a public hearing to be held by the Board of Commissioners on November 18.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 035 of Citizens Square, 200 East Berry Street.

One of the sites is the former tuberculosis clinic at 2040 South Calhoun Street. Included in the parcel is a 1,238 square foot, one-story medical office building and an adjacent parking lot. The building has not been occupied since the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health opened its medical annex at 4813 New Haven Avenue.

The other site is the current Courthouse Annex located at 113 West Berry Street. The parcel contains a 36,000-square foot, three-story office building with basement. Several court-related offices are currently located in the annex. The Commissioners expect to find new locations for those offices at other County-owned buildings once the renovation of the City-County Building is complete.

State law requires a hearing be held prior to the sale of the real estate, though no deals for either of the parcels are imminent.
