Bonahoom aids Finance Chair for innovative budget session
Will give taxpayers the ability to comment continuously

City Clerk Candidate Zach Bonahoom and City Council Finance Chairwoman, Liz Brown have developed a method for taxpayers to submit their comments to council, live, during budget session.

By using current and widely used technology, Council will encourage and welcome thoughts from taxpayers on the budget.

“This kind of citizen interaction with such an important process has never been possible in Fort Wayne because our Clerk’s office has not stayed up to date with technology. We are finally doing a test run, in 2011, when other cities started this kind of thing years ago. American Idol does it, Presidential debates do it, why don’t we?” Bonahoom said.

He noted that the technology to allow this interaction is not currently in place in the City Clerk’s office, Councilwoman Brown will be providing both the hardware and software and her staff will assist in the process.

A combination Twitter and email will be used to allow citizens to interact by sending their thoughts regarding the budget.
