Foster Park en Plein Air
An Outdoor Art Event and Silent Auction September 30 and October 1, 2011 Fort Wayne, Indiana

Foster Park en Plein Air is a service project to benefit Foster Park and the adjacent St. Mary’s River Greenway. Organized by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Langhinrichs Gallery Committee this competition is open to artists who work en plein air. Beginning late Friday afternoon, September 30, and continuing the morning of Saturday, October 1, artists work in Foster Park and/or on the Rivergreenway highlighting the area in their work. Artwork will be submitted for competition mid-day Saturday, with awards announced at the reception later that afternoon. The public is encouraged to watch the artists at work, attend the reception, and participate in the silent auction at the Langhinrichs Gallery Saturday afternoon. Funds raised will be used to purchase trees and permanent landscape plants for Foster Park and the St. Mary’s Rivergreenway.

Judge: Charles Shepard III, Executive Director of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

Awards: 1st – $300; 2nd – $200; and 3rd – $100

Public attending the reception and silent auction may participate in the $50 People’s Choice Award

Participating Artist Guidelines:

1. Competition is open to any artist; media includes oil or acrylic paint, watercolor, pastels, charcoal, pencil. Art must be done en plein air and without the aid of photography.

2. All media must be stamped at check-in prior to beginning work; multiple pieces may be stamped, however only one entry for cash awards, please. Any work produced may be included in silent auction.

3. Art for competition must be ready to hang or displayed on artist-provided easel. Additional art for the auction may be hung in the gallery or displayed on tables.

4. Judging begins promptly at 1:30 – no late submissions.

5. Artists may suggest minimum bid. UUCFW will retain 30% for Foster Park Benefit Fund. Unsold work will be released following the reception.
