Allen County Democratic Party names Maye Johnson to Voter Registration Board

Today, the Allen County Democratic Party appointed Maye Johnson to fill the Democratic vacancy on the Allen County Board of Voter Registration. The Board is comprised of a Democratic and Republican representative, and is responsible for ensuring voter rights through responsible public service, unbiased voter registration and information in compliance with state and federal laws.

“We’re proud that Maye Johnson will be our party’s representative in this important position,” said Allen County Democratic Party Chairman Mike Bynum. “Ms. Johnson’s long and distinguished record of service to our community speaks for itself, and I’m delighted that she’ll be dedicating her invaluable skills to protecting the rights of Fort Wayne and Allen County voters.”

“I’m excited and grateful for this terrific opportunity,” said Maye Johnson. “Ensuring that every citizen who wants to can register to vote and has access to unbiased information about our electoral process is a vital part of our democracy. With only 60 days left until our election, I’m eager to get to work!”

From 2006 to 2010, Ms. Johnson represented the 1st district on the Allen County Council, and has extensive professional experience in broadcast management, marketing and neighborhood revitalization. Ms. Johnson is also a passionate and dedicated member of the community — noted for her work with service organizations such as the Allen County Public Library, Memorial Coliseum, the Urban Coalition, and the Fort Wayne NAACP, amongst many others.
