TinCaps win game and Series over Hot Rods
Fort Wayne advances to Eastern Division Championship Series(Bowling Green, KY) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps took advantage of some timely hits and some outstanding pitching by Mark Hardy to defeat Bowling Green 5-1 on Friday night, eliminating the Hot Rods from further playoff competition and advancing to the Eastern Division Championship Series at the same time.
[…] Meanwhile, Bowling Green could do almost nothing offensively against Hardy.
The Fort Wayne southpaw shut out the Hot Rods over eight innings of work, scattering four hits, not walking anybody, and striking out seven.
During one stretch, Hardy retired 17 consecutive batters.
Bowling Green did score a run in the bottom of the ninth off reliever Chris Franklin, but it was not enough to keep the Hot Rods from being eliminated.
The TinCaps advance to the Eastern Division Championship Series, where they will face either Dayton or Lansing.
Game one of that series will begin on either Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. or Sunday afternoon at 5:05 p.m. at Parkview Field, depending on when the Dayton/Lansing series comes to an end.
