Anthony Wayne Rotary Club Donates $11,000 to Cancer Hospital

(August 31, 2011) – The Anthony Wayne Rotary Club of Fort Wayne has partnered with the Rotary Club of Arapongas-Beija Flora, Brazil and received a matching grant from The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. The grant is in the amount of $11, 093 and will help
provide sets of surgical instruments to the Cancer Hospital in Londrina, Brazil. The Anthony Wayne Rotary Club will coordinate the project internationally and the Rotary Club of Arapongas-Beija Flora will coordinate the project locally.

Club President, Al Brothers, is thrilled to have received this grant and goes on to say, “The Anthony Wayne Rotary Club has consistently helped those in developing countries to improve their community health. This latest project will help thousands of people to live a healthier life by providing access to surgical procedures never before available in their community.”

The Anthony Wayne Rotary Club of Fort Wayne is one of more than 33,000 Rotary clubs worldwide with more than 1.2 million members. Rotary International was the world’s first service club organization, and today Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto “Service Above Self.”
