News release from IPFW:

National Authority on Innovation in Higher Education to Speak to IPFW Faculty

George Mehaffy, vice president for academic leadership and change with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) will be the featured speaker at the first Academic Forum of the 2011-12 school year at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). The forum is Thursday, Sept. 8, at 3 p.m. at the Keith Busse Steel Dynamics Alumni Center. The forum is not open to the public; however, members of the media are invited to attend.

Mehaffy is also the founder of AASCU’s Red Balloon Project: Re-imagining Undergraduate Education. IPFW is heavily involved in the
Red Balloon Project under the direction of William McKinney, vice chancellor for academic affairs. McKinney noted “…Mehaffy has taken
a keen interest in IPFW’s re-imagining efforts. I believe his remarks will be very relevant for our faculty and staff.”

The most recent Red Balloon-related effort at IPFW is the faculty iPad cohort program, #mobileEDU, which began in August.

For more information on Mehaffy or the Academic Forum, contact McKinney at 260-481-6116 or mckinnew@ipfw.edu.
