Human Trafficking in Northeast Indiana

(August 10, 2011) – In 2010 the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) received 11,874 calls of which 84 from form Indiana with 4 of those being from Fort Wayne. Human Trafficking includes sex and labor trafficking is a global problem that has now reached Northeast Indiana.

Tena Dellaca-Hedrick, Rural Advocate Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment and Indiana Tech Adjunct Faculty member teaching course in Victimology and Multiculturalism, will be our dialogue facilitator. Dialogue will look at:

[li]Who are traffickers[/li]
[li]Who are the potential victims of human trafficking[/li]
[li]How technology plays a role[/li]
[/list]

The goal of this dialogue is to bring awareness to growing prevalence of Human Trafficking in our community. Participants will engage in discussion of concerns, experiences, and how we as individuals and our community should respond.

YWCA Northeast Indiana Diversity Dialogues are open to the public. Feel free to bring you lunch and join the conversation.
