Investigators Seek to Identify Suspect in Attempted Robbery

Date/Time of Incident: August 22, 2011, 12:33 p.m.
Location of Incident: 509 E. Jefferson Blvd.
Victim: Gas Station, BP Jefferson Express
Loss: No Loss Reported

Suspect Description: male black, approximate height of 5’8″, medium to heavy build, described as ‘stocky’ or ‘chubby’; last seen wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt, a yellow reflective traffic vest with a triangular design on back, and jeans.

Details:
The Fort Wayne Police Department is presently investigating an attempted robbery that occurred today, August 22, 2011 at approximately 12:33 p.m. at 509 E. Jefferson Blvd., the Jefferson Express BP. A male subject reportedly entered the store and approached the store clerk brandishing a handgun and demanding cash. As the store clerk fled to the rear of the store, the perpetrator fired several shots at the clerk. The clerk was not injured. The perpetrator fled the store on foot, and possibly northbound along Clay Street.

Investigators have obtained footage of the incident from in-store video cameras, and are seeking assistance in identifying the suspect.
