News release from the University of Saint Francis:

Didier joins USF as assistant director of alumni relations

(August 16, 2011) – The University of Saint Francis has hired Fort Wayne native Maria Didier as assistant director of alumni relations.

Didier earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind. in 2010. She brings a wealth of event planning experience and familial connections to her USF job.

Prior to her USF position, Didier worked as marketing and guest services coordinator for Jefferson Pointe, a large shopping mall in Fort Wayne. A student ambassador, tour director and marketer during college, she was drawn to the higher education field and the USF position.

Her family has many USF relationships. Her uncle, James Haifley, was inducted into the USF Athletic Hall of Fame for soccer and basketball in 1991. Cousin Joey Didier, a USF football alumnus, coaches for head football coach Kevin Donley and his sister, Debbie, was a USF cheerleader whose husband, Andy Papagiannis, will enter the USF Hall of Fame in October.

“My whole family is part of this community,” she said. “I love Fort Wayne and have been a parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception all my life. It’s such a unique city, and the people are wonderful, down-to-earth and love their community.”

With a professed love for details and event planning, she hopes to develop new events for the enjoyment of USF alumni, including a possible summer weekend of band concerts and family events, and some Easter events that incorporate fun and an emphasis on Catholic traditions.

She enjoys her Brookside office and professional team. “The support from Alumni and Development has been awesome. They are so willing to help out. I walk into Brookside every day, see something new and think I’m the most fortunate and blessed woman alive to be in this atmosphere,” she said.
