News release from the City of Fort Wayne:

City to host meeting to identify local detours for upcoming Clinton Street bridge replacement
City making access to businesses along major corridor priority during temporary shut-down

Drivers, business owners, nearby residents and the general public are invited to attend a public meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 in Council Chambers in Citizens Square to discuss potential local detours during the Indiana Department of Transportation’s replacement of the Spy Run Creek bridge on U.S. 27/Clinton Street.

INDOT is slated to reconstruct the bridge in 2012, including raising it 8 feet, which will close Clinton between State Boulevard and Elizabeth Street to all traffic. Trucks and through traffic will use the official detour from Coliseum to Washington Street.

At the meeting, City officials will discuss possible local detours that will preserve access to businesses along Clinton as well as maintaining access to downtown via this major arterial street. Potential alternate routes include Wells Street, Anthony Boulevard, Parnell Avenue and two-way traffic on portions of Spy Run Avenue.
