News release from the Fort Wayne Curling Club:

The Fort Wayne Curling Club’s 2011 Summerspiel

The Fort Wayne Curling Club is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Fort Wayne Summerspiel, the largest summer curling tournament under 1 roof in the world! The event boasts 60 teams from throughout the United States and Canada in novice, competitive and elite divisions. The elite event has a $8,000 cash purse and will include 2 teams from the United States Curling Association’s High Performance program, World-Champion, U.S. Champion and 3-time Olympian Debbie McCormick, and other top-level teams.

This event follows last year’s successful event and is an impressive advancement for a curling club that has only been in existence for 1 year.

The event will be held at the Lutheran Health Sports Center located between Lima and Wells at Fernhill. The event starts at 8:00 am on Friday, August 19th and run through 6 pm on Sunday, August 21st.

Spectators are able to attend this event for free and see curling at all levels up close.

This event is made possible through the generous support of Visit Fort Wayne, Ultrazone, the United States Curling Association and other sponsors.

Sponsorship opportunities are available.

For more information, please contact the club’s president Craig Fischer at 260-438-0689 or Craig@FortWayneCurling.com.
