Downtown Improvement District hires Tena Woenker as Marketing and Events Director
Woenker will continue to coordinate Taste of the Arts festival

Tena Woenker has joined the Downtown Improvement District (DID) its new Marketing and Events Director. She most recently worked at Arts United and will continue to coordinate their annual Taste of the Arts festival until September. Tena served as the downtown development and Main Street manager for Lafayette and West Lafayette, Indiana, and is eager to bring that experience to her role in downtown Fort Wayne. She has also worked at WBAA-Public Radio from Purdue and was editor-in-chief of The Lafayette Leader newspaper for several years.

“Tena’s experience with media and downtown development will be very helpful in her work with downtown businesses and organizations to make the downtown even more vibrant,” says Rich Davis, President of the DID. “We are confident she will expand the partnerships with Arts United, the City and other community members to promote the cultural district.”

Tena has extensive volunteer experience, most notably leading the Community Appearance Task Force for the Chamber of Commerce in Lafayette where she co-chaired entry in the national America In Bloom contest for both Lafayette and West Lafayette in a partnership with their Chamber and both city governments. West Lafayette won in its size category and Lafayette earned recognition for historic preservation and recycling efforts. She also served the board for the Lafayette Crisis Center while implementing the 2-1-1 Information and Referral phone service.

Tena moved to Fort Wayne in 2008 to unite with her husband, Tim, a long-time resident and President of Chematics, Inc. of North Webster. They have four adult children. She is an Indiana Advanced Master Gardener and member of the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
