This is the 30th anniversary of Germanfest in Fort Wayne.

This is the last evening for the Festival Pavilion & Bier tent at Headwaters Park.

Today’s events:

11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. – Doors Open, Headwaters Park Festival Plaza
 
8:00 a.m. Volksmarch (10K walk) at the Festival Plaza, Headwaters Park
 
Begin between 8:00-11:00AM, finish by 2:00PM. Traverse a well-marked route through downtown, River greenway, and city neighborhoods. For info, call 260.925.5091.
 
10:00 a.m. 5th Annual FW Visionwalk at Headwaters Park

The Foundation Fighting Blindness holds a 5K walk; registration at 9AM. Join local dignitaries to raise critical research dollars. More info at (847) 680-0100 or at www.visionwalk.org.

 

10:00 a.m. 11th Annual German Bake Off! – Festival Plaza
Drop-off authentic German desserts by 11:30 p.m. Judging at 12 Noon; awards at 1:30 p.m.

 

10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Coed 4’s Volleyball Tournament by Fairplay Volleyball
Fairplay Volleyball will hold it’s first Germanfest Volleyball Tournament for mixed mens/womens teams (coed) in A, B+, B and C levels all day. Registraion fee is $15 per player. More info and online registration is available on the Fairplay website or on Facebook.

 

11:00 a.m. Fort Wayne Suzuki Strings on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage

 

11:00 a.m. Familienfest (Family Fest) at Festival Plaza
Bring the whole family for a fun-filled day at Germanfest 2011! Scale a climbing wall or ride the Titanic Adventure slide provided by Ultrazone of Fort Wayne. Try your soccer skills with The Plex, compete in a Balloon Stomp, or the Gerken Splatt sponsored by Sechler’s Pickles. More!

 

11:30 a.m. – Fred Ziwich and the International Sound Machine on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage

 

Noon to 8:00 p.m. – Fun Festival Kiddie Rides by Miller Family Amusements
Paint it German face painting by Sweetcakes Comedy Entertainment Company.
Balloons to the Moon: unusual and unique ballon sculpting by Kevin Harris.

 

1:00 to 2:00 p.m. – Magician Jim Barron and his musical, magical mad-cap fun-for-all show

 

2:00 p.m. National Wiener Dog Finals at Headwaters Park, Lower Level
Join Germanfest and 92.3 The Fort for the 18th Annual National Wiener Dog Finals as “hot dogs” race for the coveted title. All dogs must be pre-register online (click here). Sponsored by Miller.

 

2:00 p.m. Pommersche Tanzdeel Dance Group performing on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage

 

4:00 p.m. Pommersche Tanzdeel Dance Group performing on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage

 

4:30 p.m. – Alpine Express on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage

6:00 p.m. – Trauben Tromp (Grape Stomp) at Headwaters Park, Lower Level
The Grapes of Wrath returns as 9 teams compete to stomp the most grapes. More info here.

 

7:00 p.m. – Polka Like a Star!, Festival Pavilion Dance Floor
Learn to polka like the pros! American Styles Ballroom Dance Studio will teach couples how to polka, all participants have a chance to win trophies and prizes. Open to all!

 

8:30 p.m. Pommersche Tanzdeel Dance Group performing on the Headwaters Park Festival Pavilion Stage
