Four bands to play Henrypalooza concert at Headwaters Park

(May 5, 2011) – Popular local bands David Todoran & The Mobile Homewreckers, Fawn Liebowitz and Good Night Gracie will join renowned headliner Dot Dot Dot to perform at HenryPalooza2011 — a live, outdoor concert at Headwaters Park (333 South Clinton Street, Fort Wayne) sponsored by the Tom Henry For Mayor Campaign. The event, which begins at 6:00pm on May 20th, will also feature food from Fort Wayne restaurants Club Soda, El Azteca and Lexy’s Pizza, as well as a beer garden for those age 21 and over. Advance tickets are $20 and available www.HenryPalooza2011.com.
“We’re very excited to be performing at HenryPalooza,” said Adam Blair, frontman for Dot Dot Dot. “We’ll be making our Fort Wayne debut alongside some terrific groups, and we’re going to put on an exciting show. About the Bands:
Indiana natives David Todoran and The Mobile Homewreckers are a trio that goes beyond the borders of Americana. Building from a foundation of guitar, double bass and drums, David’s songs are haunted by restless souls seeking a sense of place. Their stories are often set against the seemingly vast expanse and close knit communities of middle America. His work with producers Ian Spanic and Danny Dziuks resulted in numerous CDs, including Luck in this Life on the Berlin-based Ulftone label, Under My Skin, and Solstice.
Fawn Liebowitz is a band from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Originally formed as Two Ton Heavy Thing in the mid 90’s, the group evolved into the band Fawn Liebowitz upon the recording and release of their first album, “Loyalty”. Upon the release of “Loyalty”, the band found success touring the Mid-West. The constant touring and travel led to the second album “Bug” being recorded and released to much critical acclaim throughout the region. “Bug” won the “Album of the Year” award at the Whatzup musical awards show in 2001. Fawn continues to perform an eclectic live show throughout the region.
Since 2004 Good Night Gracie has guaranteed to make you groove by delivering a high energy show incorporating a mix of pop rock, funk, reggae, hip hop, and classic rock. Just out of curiosity, does the mayor’s campaign pay a fee for use of the Headwaters Park facility for an event like this?

Update: I just received a call from Geoff Paddock who is visiting his mom in Florida – He wanted to report that any first-time “non-profit” user of the large pavillion pays a $1,025 per day fee to use it. If that user comes back for a return event, they will pay a little more – up to $1725 per day. So, Henry’s campaign will be paying the $1025 for this event.
What exactly is it you’re after here, John? What’s the point you’re trying to make?
I think it’s a little obvious Mr. Parker. He’s asking if Henry will pay the park’s user fee since he appoints all 4 members of the park board. 5 if you count the director.
No, it wasn’t obvious Mark or I wouldn’t have asked and I’m sorry, but you’re wrong.
The Mayor has no appointments to the Headwaters Park Alliance Board. The Headwaters Park Alliance is independent and a non-profit 501c(3) organization. No one is appointed to the Board by the City. The Park’s Board does have one Liaison to the Alliance, however, they are not on the Board. The Headwaters Park Alliance is separate from the City period. All appointments are internally decided by the organization.

Thanks, John. I appreciate the clarification. The reason I pushed the issue is because when you ask a question, it’s usually to challenge or point out a problem. As you can see from Mark S.’s response, he went in a direction that was in keeping with the direction you’ve taken other issues before. Need to be careful that people aren’t jumping to conclusions or making assumptions based on the questions you ask. I know you can’t control where people go with their thoughts, but I think asking questions like that publicly, can give the wrong impressions.
