Pre-primary election reports due this Friday

Last Friday, April 8, 2011, was the end of the pre-primary campaign finance reporting period.

Candidates have until noon this Friday, April 15, 2011, to file their pre-primary campaign finance reports with the Allen County Election Board.  This include unopposed candidates.

There are already a slew of reports filed which may be accessed here.

Although not an exact indicator of how a candidate will perform in the election, they can divulge all sorts of information about a candidate.  Where their money is coming from, i.e. inside Fort Wayne, Allen County, State of Indiana or other parts or even from Political Action Committees or Unions.  The reports can also offer insight into how easily a candidate is able to raise money.

It will be worth a look to see how the top three Republican Mayoral candidates are faring against a strong Democratic incumbent, Mayor Tom Henry.  Henry had a balance on hand in January of just over a half a million dollars while the most one of his three main Republican challengers reported was just over $101,000.

Stay tuned!
