Statement by INDGOP Chairman Eric Holcomb on President Obama’s Re-elect Announcement and Visit to Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (April 4, 2011) – Indiana Republican Party State Chairman Eric Holcomb released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s announcement today that he will run for re-election and his scheduled visit to Indiana on Friday:

“On the eve of a possible government shut-down, President Obama hasn’t found the time to support cuts in government spending proposed by Republicans in the House and Senate, but he’s got plenty of time to hit up donors to fill his campaign coffers with a planned $1 billion. Today’s announcement is the clearest indicator yet that our President is completely out-of-touch. His NCAA bracket turned out better than any foreign or domestic policy he’s offered in the past two years.

“During his visit to Indiana on Friday, President Obama will see that Hoosiers now have a strong case of voters remorse. We’ve seen across the country that hope isn’t hiring. We need real solutions to our problems, not just lofty unrealized promises.”

Webmaster’s note: President Obama will tour an Indianapolis transmission plant, owned by Allison Transmission on Friday. According to reports, the plant produces systems for hybrid vehicles.
