Parkview Trauma Centers to Participate in National Conference

(March 31, 2011) – Parkview Hospital’s Trauma Centers will participate in National Public Health Week “Safety is No Accident: Live Injury-Free” by attending a national conference in Iowa April 6-8.

The Safe States Alliance, the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are hosting the conference to discuss how partnerships and research can benefit organizations committed to creating injury prevention programs.

Parkview Trauma Centers has been invited to share results of a research study led by Parkview that examined the impact of helmet use in preschool children in northeast Indiana. Dr. Thein Hlaing Zhu, trauma epidemiologist, Parkview Trauma Centers, will make a presentation on behalf of Parkview.

In addition, Parkview will have an information booth to educate attendees about the Don’t Text & Drive program. Parkview launched the Don’t Text & Drive initiative in February 2009. The program targets teenage drivers and adults who send or read text messages while driving.
