No Fossil Fuels Required for Next Science Central Lunch with an IPFW Scientist
(March 31, 2011) – Drive your children to Science Central to learn about the latest developments in automobiles. Gary Steffen, associate
professor and chair of the computer and electrical engineering technology and information systems and technology departments at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), will present, “Electric Cars: No Fossil Fuels Required,” Saturday, April 16, for the Science Central Lunch with an IPFW Scientist program. The session is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is open to the public at a cost of $16 per person; $10 for Science Central members. Lunch is included.Participants will learn about electric cars, including batteries, electric motors, solar cells, and fuel cells. They will have the opportunity to hook up their own electric motors and solar cells while discovering all the varieties of technologies making up an electric vehicle.
The Science Central Lunch with an IPFW Scientist Series is designed for families with young people 8 and up to plant a budding interest in science. After each presentation, which includes a hands-on activity, participants enjoy lunch with the presenter. Advance reservations are
