Arts United Offers Arts in Education Grants

(March 10, 2011) – The Arts United Arts in Education Grant Initiative is designed to offer arts education curriculum assistance with the hope of engaging students in the arts by providing them with more in-depth knowledge and participation in visual, performing, literary, or traditional arts. This initiative targets students at the primary and secondary levels where arts programming has been reduced or eliminated. Teachers are encouraged to create a more complete curriculum with these grants through programs where students experience an artist-in-residence program or field trip to an area cultural institution.

The main areas that will be funded will be:

[li]Transportation Costs – travel costs related to arts and cultural activities[/li]
[li]Artist-in-Residence Fees – bringing professional artists into the schools to work with students or taking students to work with artists in other locations[/li]
[li]Student Ticket Subsidy- teachers and principals at public K-12 schools may apply for the Student Ticket Subsidy[/li]
[/list]

The grant funds may be used for cultural experiences on trip(s) within the following counties: Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Miami, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley.

Application Deadline Date: Monday, May 2, 2011 Time: 4:00 p.m.
