GM increases corporate gift to United Way by 62 percent

News release from the United Way of Allen County:

GM Increases Corporate Gift to United Way of Allen County by 62 Percent

(March 4, 2011) – GM Fort Wayne Assembly Plant Manager Mike Glinski and UAW Local 2209 President Orval Plumlee presented a check for $42,300 today to United Way of Allen County CEO Todd Stephenson. The check presentation took place in the atrium of the GM Fort Wayne Assembly plant, 12200 Lafayette Center Road, Roanoke, IN 46783.

This corporate gift represents a 62 percent increase over last year’s gift of $26,000. Glinski said that GM management works closely with UAW Local 2209 to raise dollars for United Way of Allen County. He added that the increase was possible this year due to the third shift being added at the plant in May 2010.

“Every year, GM and UAW Local 2209’s support of United Way is great, but this year it is truly exceptional,” said Stephenson. “This increase shows that GM’s growth and success does indeed have a direct impact on the success and well-being of this community. Because of GM and its employees, United Way is able to help residents meet their basic needs, help children succeed in school and help individuals become self-sufficient. We can’t thank them enough.”

“I want to let the community know that this is just part of GM’s and UAW 2209’s commitment to United Way of Allen County – this is the corporate gift,” continued Stephenson. “Many of GM’s dedicated local employees also donate to United Way – and their final, total gift will be released by the corporate offices by the end of the month.”
