Re: Pufferbelly Trail, Phase I
Dear Residents, Business Owners, and Interested Parties:
The City of Fort Wayne is developing preliminary design plans for the construction of Phase I of the Pufferbelly Trail, a 12 foot wide multi-use asphalt trail, located in northwest Fort Wayne. This phase of the Pufferbelly Trail will be the second segment to be constructed in Allen County of an 8O-mile State Visionary Trail from Pokagon State Park in Angola to Ouabache State Park in Bluffton. The project limits for Phase I will begin at the intersection of Fourth Street and Clinton Street and proceed north along the west side of Clinton Street to a former railroad corridor across from Science Central. The trail will follow the railroad corridor to Fernhill Avenue. A 10 foot wide trail spur will also be constructed from the railroad corridor over to Franke Park Drive. The trail spur will follow the south side of Franke Park Drive over to Franke Park and the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. Project length is approximately 2.6 miles. Construction is expected in 2013.
The City of Fort Wayne encourages you to join us for an upcoming informal public information meeting on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the City-County Building, One Main Street, Fort Wayne. Please go to the Omni Room on the second floor.
Representatives from the City of Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne Trails, Inc., as well as engineers from Engineering Resources, lnc. will be available following a brief presentation to answer questions regarding the project. Information pertaining to this project, including Preliminary Design Plans, will be made available for public viewing.
This meeting is your opportunity to share concerns or ideas at an early stage’ in the project design so that the City can consider incorporating changes based upon your input.
