THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/ THURSDAY. A WINTER STORM WATCH
REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

* TIMING…A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA TONIGHT. ADDITIONAL PRECIPITATION IS
EXPECTED TO REDEVELOP BY LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND INCREASE IN INTENSITY THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING BEFORE DIMINISHING.

* MAIN IMPACT…A MIXTURE OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET IS EXPECTED TONIGHT. HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WITH ACCUMULATIONS IN EXCESS OF 6 INCHES IS EXPECTED THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING. SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN MAY MIX AT TIMES…ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF ROUTE 24.

* OTHER IMPACTS…ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY THIS EVENING. THURSDAY NIGHT…ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND SLIPPERY WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW IN OPEN AREAS. TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT.
