Doden: Fort Wayne’s Marketing Effort to Employers Must Improve
Would embrace role as Fort Wayne’s Chief Marketing OfficerRepublican mayoral candidate Eric Doden announced today plans to improve Fort Wayne’s regional, national and international standing as a location for job growth and economic development. Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of specific plans released by Doden for creating jobs and modernizing Fort Wayne’s economy.
“As Mayor, all my actions will be focused toward implementing policies that retain, create and attract good-paying jobs to Fort Wayne, but that’s not enough,” Doden said. “In today’s global economy, a mayor must also be an aggressive advocate for the city to potential job creators around the globe. With my background and experience in business and private equity, I believe it’s a role I’m uniquely suited to fill. As mayor, I’ll embrace this important role of Fort Wayne’s Chief Marketing Officer.”
Doden’s plan includes marketing Fort Wayne in a systematic and consistent way that engineers the perception of the city as innovative, progressive and entrepreneurial to help bring about an increase in job growth outside the manufacturing, retail, and government sectors.
“When people think of Fort Wayne, they need to think of a great place to do business,” Doden said. “Businesses and job creators need to know about the strength of Fort Wayne’s workforce, but also that its local government is committed to helping them not just survive, but grow and thrive.”
To let potential employers know Fort Wayne is “open for business,” Doden will task city department heads with reforming the city’s permit processes in order to create a “one stop shopping” experience for employers looking to relocate to or expand operations.
“Fort Wayne needs a comprehensive approach to retaining and attracting jobs and investment and the mayor needs to be leading the effort, not a bit player,” Doden said. “If elected, I’ll ensure area economic development organizations will have a full and proactive partner in the Mayor’s office.
Specifically, Doden will work with local economic development organizations to implement a strategy of identifying weak suppliers of established long-term companies who could be purchased by Fort Wayne investors and moved to Fort Wayne.
Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of announcements of Doden’s comprehensive plan to create jobs and attract investment to Fort Wayne. Last week, Doden announced his plan to leverage a portion of the light-lease fund to attract capital projects that will create jobs in Fort Wayne.
