NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTHERN INDIANA
600 AM EST MON FEB 21 2011…A WINTRY MIX TODAY AND TONIGHT…
.COLD AIR WILL SPREAD SOUTHWARD TODAY WITH RAIN CHANGING TO FREEZING RAIN AND THEN TO SNOW THIS AFTERNOON AS ANOTHER WEATHER DISTURBANCE OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS LIFTS NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY. ICE ACCRETION ON ROAD SURFACES WILL CAUSE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AND HAZARDOUS TRAVEL. THERE WILL ALSO BE SOME ICE ACCUMULATIONS ON TREES AND POWER LINES. ICE ACCUMULATIONS TODAY ARE EXPECTED TO BE UNDER A QUARTER OF AN INCH. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BY TUESDAY MORNING OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE EXPECTED NORTH OF HIGHWAY 30 WITH LESSER AMOUNTS TO THE SOUTH BUT GREATER ICING.
