News release from IPFW:

IPFW Students Offer “Flavors of the West Side” to Fort Wayne

(February 9, 2011) – Get a taste of New York this spring when Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) hospitality students
take over the Mastodon Grill to offer “Flavors of the West Side.” The annual class will run the IPFW-themed restaurant in the Holiday Inn
at IPFW and the Coliseum every Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m., Feb. 15 through Apr. 26 (excluding March 8.) This dinner series is open to the public; reservations are advised by calling 260-482-3800. The menu can be viewed at https://flavorsofthewestside.weebly.com.

As part of their Advanced Foods Service Management class, senior-level students majoring in hospitality and tourism management are charged with planning a themed menu, creating a budget and business plan, marketing the series, and managing the restaurant every Tuesday evening. This year’s theme focuses on the flavors of New York’s West Side. The menu will offer tapas and an art/food fusion. “”Come and enjoy contemporary New York style food in a west side Manhattan atmosphere” said Danielle Carr, a hospitality and tourism management student heading the marketing efforts for the class.

Dinner entrees, which include two sides, range from $13 to $19. IPFW students receive a 10-percent discount, and IPFW faculty members receive a 15-percent discount.

The class is offered through the Department of Consumer and Family Sciences, which is part of the College of Health and Human Services.
