News release from the Nick Tash campaign:

South Side alumnus makes bid for City Council At-Large seat
19-year-old IPFW student makes bid to represent the future of the Fort Wayne at Council table

Nick Tash may have only been old enough to vote in (one or two) elections, but this Fort Wayne college freshman is making a bid to serve as one of three City Council At-Large members.

Despite his age, Tash has already held elected office, serving as senior class president last year at South Side High School. He is currently a freshman studying theater at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Tash is currently serving as vice president of IPFW’s theater organization. Some residents may have seen him on local stage in several roles such as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet at First Presbyterian Theater and as Vice Principal Panch in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at IPFW.

“I know that 19 sounds awfully young for someone to seek elected office, but as I saw at South Side, being involved is the best, most effective way to make a difference,” Tash said. “The decisions that are being made at the Council table, like sustainability and green initiatives plus job creation that will keep and my classmates in Indiana’s second-largest city and my hometown, are going to affect the next generation of Fort Wayne residents. Diversity of age in our decisionmakers is important.”

Tash is seeking one of three Democratic slots on the November ballot for the at-large seats. His name will appear on the May primary.
