Today saw the last full day of filing for the May primary election.

Tomorrow, candidates have a half-day of opportunity as the filing deadline is noon.

Today saw Republican Tom Freistroffer announce and file for the Fort Wayne City Council At-Large race and Democrat Mike Avila file for the 4th District race.

Also filing today was Republican Anthony Gordon who also filed for the At-Large race.

A bit of a surprise to some was the filing in the 6th District City Council race of Democrat Rev. Michael Latham, Sr.  Latham was the former head of the local NAACP chapter.  He will face incumbent Democrat Glynn Hines in the May primary election.

One more Republican joined the Mayor’s race – Terrence Walker filed today as well.

As mentioned above, noon tomorrow is the deadline for Democrat and Republican candidates to file.
