Parkview and Fort Wayne Cardiology present check to TRAA to enhance patient care
(February 16, 2011) – Leaders from Parkview Heart Institute and Fort Wayne Cardiology, a member of Parkview Physicians’ Group, today presented a check for $10,000 to Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA).
The funding will be used to install technology in TRAA ambulances. The technology will transmit heart readings directly to the Parkview Emergency Department and Parkview Heart Institute as the ambulance is in route to the hospital with a patient in need of cardiac care. The partnership is aimed at enhancing patient care.
“Parkview is pleased to be a partner with TRAA as we work together to utilize technology to help patients in need of immediate heart care,” said Chad Carpenter, chief operating officer, Parkview Heart Institute. “This effort complements Parkview’s mission to improve the health of the communities we serve.” TRAA responds to nearly 35,000 requests each year, with more than 21,000 transports.
Last October, Parkview presented a check for $2,500 to the New Haven EMS to install similar technologies to assist with heart care.
Parkview is recognized as a leader in providing cardiac care. Last October, Parkview was presented with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Coronary Artery Disease (GWTG-CAD) Gold Performance Achievement Award and the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Program Participation Award.In addition, the Parkview Hospital Congestive Heart Treatment Unit is an Accredited Acute Heart Failure Center, Cycle 1. Parkview Hospital is also an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Cycle III with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Parkview is the only hospital in the region with both accreditations.
