A request from the City of Fort Wayne:
Piles of snow – resulting from drifting and weeks of shoveling – can often block the visibility of a fire hydrant. Residents may help by making sure the hydrants on their street are not obstructed by snow.
In the event of a fire, especially with the frigid temperatures we are experiencing, a few minutes spent trying to locate or even dig out a fire plug can make a huge difference in efforts to control a fire and even hamper rescue efforts if needed.
