A list of events at Old Fort Wayne for this year:

Nouvelle Annee: A French Garrison 1751
January 29, 2011 – Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm

Experience a winter with the French of Fort Miamies. French military, civilians, and local native Americans will be recreating the daily life at a Fort on the frontier. Mail call, drilling, scouting the area, cooking and sewing will be some of the events taking place during the event.

Annual Education Day
May 13, 2011

This day has been added to coincide with our time line event. Open to local fourth graders in Public School Districts, Private Schools and Home School Programs.

Cost $3.00
Not open to the General Public.

Muster on the St. Mary’s – A Time Line Event
May 14, 2011 – Saturday, 11 am to 8 pm
May 15, 2011 – Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm

Have you ever wanted to talk with Dr. Benjamin Franklin? Do you know what weapons the army in the Medieval era used? What were the French Settlers like when they inhabited this area? What was life really like for the Continental Army? Can you tell the difference between the War of 1812 and the Civil War? How was life for the women and children in all of these decades different to the current one? Join Historic Fort Wayne at the Old Fort downtown on May 14th & 15th and meet the Friends of the Fort as these and numerous other questions are answered. The Old Fort will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 14th, and 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15th. For more information call (260) 437-2836.

Revolutionary War – The Western Front
June 11, 2011 – Saturday,  11 am to 8 pm
June 12, 2011 – Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm

Beware! The forces of the United States will be on patrol for the British army and the Indians. The Continental Army will be camping at the Old Fort this weekend. Join General Washington´s forces as they demonstrate life when the United States was being created. Talk with the soldiers and their families, watch and hear the musket and cannon fire, immerse yourself in the life of our fore fathers. Please join us on Saturday, June 11th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 12th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For more information call (260) 437-2836.

Three Rivers Festival – Siege of Fort Wayne 1812
July 9, 2011 – Saturday, 11 am to 8 pm
July 10, 2011 – Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm

What is the Second War of Independence really about? The British had been beaten during the Revolutionary War and were no longer here. right? Come to the Old Fort on July 10th & 11th and learn why the War of 1812 has become the Forgotten War. Talk with the Soldiers as they go about their daily schedules, see the Women and Children as they complete their tasks. Meet with the Mounted Militia and hear how the militia were so important in the continuation of our freedom. The Old Fort will be open 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9th, and 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10th. For more information call (260) 437-2836.

Three Rivers Festival – Camp Allen Muster 1861 – 1865
July 16, 2011 – Saturday, 11 am to 8 pm
July 17, 2011 – Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm

Hear the cannons roar and the rifles and muskets fire, listen to the soldiers as they complete their drills, talk with the cooks who make the food for those who live at the Old Fort. Join the Civil War re-enactors at the Old Fort on Saturday, July 16th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday July 17th from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., as they return to the time when families were divided. There will be soldiers and their families to talk with, as well as children games and various demonstrations to either participate in or observe. For more information call (260) 437-2836.

Fort Miamies
August 27, 2011 – Saturday, 11 am to 8 pm
August 28, 2011 – Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm

Did you know that the French came to the area now known as Fort Wayne in the 1680? And they were in possession of the land – and forts – here until 1760 when this post was surrendered to the British and would be attacked by Pontiac during his famous uprising in 1763. The entire garrison was either be captured or killed. Seven Years War, Inc. and Historic Fort Wayne Inc. are excited to announce a new event at the Old Fort for 2009. Come and experience the 1750´s as they actually were. See the French Marines who once protected and garrisoned this Post known at the time as Fort Miamie. View the British Rangers that marched from Fort Detroit to accept the surrender of the French Post. See the French Voyageur that moved the freight up and down the rivers supplying the other Post in Indiana. See the French Fur trader and the natives Americans that they traded with to supply Europe in the Furs that they so much desired. And so much more. The Old Fort will be open 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th, and 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28th. For more information call (260) 437-2836.

Fall Festival
October 22, 2011 –  Saturday, Noon to 8 pm

The “ghosts” from the area extend an invitation to join them at the Old Fort for a time of family fun on October 22nd, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. Attempt games of skills, hear tales from the past, amongst a variety of other activities. Maybe Old Fort´s resident ghost , Lt. Ostrander, will join us in welcoming you! Historic Fort Wayne would enjoy hosting you for a “spirited” time. For more information call (260) 437-2836.
