Flowering Shrubs for Spring
Thursday, February 10, 6:30 – 8 pm
Bring a little color to your home with the help of common flowering shrubs. Led by the Conservatory’s horticulturist Andy Force, you will learn the pros and cons of using flowering shrubs in your landscape and discover the secrets of caring for these lovely plants. Then try your hand at forcing cuttings of some of our shrubs, such as Viburnum, flowering quince or Forsythia, which you can take with you in a complimentary vase. Ages 14+. Botanical Brown Bag – Second Star to the Right: Finding Your Way Around the Night Sky
Thursday, February 24, 12 – 1 pm
As everyone knows, you follow the second star to the right to get to Neverland. But which one is the second star? In this program, members of the Fort Wayne Astronomical Society will share some of the amazing sights of the night sky and explain what to look for if you would like to see them for yourself. After the program, you can discover Neverland for yourself in our new Peter Pan-themed Showcase garden. Free coffee and tea. No reservations needed. Nature Photography Workshop
Saturday, February 26, 9:30 am – 12 pm
Join Bob Goines from Sunny Schick Camera as he shares the secrets of taking stunning photographs of nature then head out to the gardens to practice your new skills. Afterwards, we’ll regroup to anonymously review and critique some of the photos from the day and have all your questions answered. You will need to bring your own digital still camera with a removable memory card and fully charged battery (no cell phone cameras or video cameras, please). All skill levels are welcome. Ages 12+.
