Press release from Governor Daniels:
Governor Daniels among three leaders recognized for fiscal responsibility
(INDIANAPOLIS, January 3, 2011) – Governor Mitch Daniels will be one of three recipients of the first Fiscy Award, presented for leadership and commitment to responsible financial stewardship. The governor, Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) will be recognized by non-partisan Fiscy Awards Committee this week.
“The people of Indiana, by supporting and insisting on policies of prudence and economy, brought about the results which earned this recognition. It is in their name that I gratefully accept it,” said Daniels.
The recipients are being recognized for their continued leadership and efforts to promote fiscal responsibility and discipline in government.
The Fiscy Awards Committee includes the Honorable David M. Walker, founder of the Comeback America Initiative; Maya MacGuineas, president of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget; and Robert Bixby, executive director of the Concord Coalition.
The awards will be presented Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. The event is open press.
“Governor Daniels demonstrated how you can reduce the size of state government and put its finances in order and still get re-elected by a wide margin,” Walker said.
The ceremony will include remarks by each Fiscy Award recipient, followed by a panel discussion among the awards committee members. More information may be found at https://www.thefiscys.com/.
