FWCS agrees to do print work for Allen County Government

Press release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:

FWCS Agrees to do Print Work for Allen County Government
Quality, cost containment keys to deal

(January 20, 2011) – Fort Wayne Community Schools will begin taking on printing work for Allen County government under terms of a deal announced today.

All of the County’s current printing work will be transferred to the FWCS Print Shop located on Catalpa Street and a transition plan is under development. FWCS has agreed to produce the County’s work at the same price as the Allen County Print Shop and will also provide free delivery to a drop-off location. In addition, FWCS will also host an Internet Portal for order taking later in the year.

As a result of the agreement, the County Print Shop located in the basement of the City-County Building is scheduled to close by the end of March. Two positions will be eliminated as a result of the closing.

“The closing of the Print Shop was a difficult decision and culminated from a lengthy year long study of costs and expenses associated with continuing operation,” said Robert Bolenbaugh, County Purchasing Director. “The equipment was aging and in need of constant repair and so Allen County would have incurred significant expense in replacing key components.”

A search for alternatives resulted in the discovery that the FWCS Print Shop had capacity to take on the County’s work. “They have an excellent reputation for quality, fast turnaround and ability to control costs,” Bolenbaugh said.
