Public Invited to Arts United Party
(January 18, 2010) – Arts United is pleased to invite the community to a free kickoff party for their annual fund drive. The reception will be held Thursday, January 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Arts United Center, 303 E Main Street, Fort Wayne.
Those who attend the annual fund drive kickoff will be the first to see Arts United’s exhibit called the “Community Mosaic.” The display includes dozens of three feet square paintings decorating the large lobby wall at the Arts United Center during the Arts United fund drive. Attendees of the kickoff party will also enjoy JK O’Donnell’s food and beverages, entertainment by the Fort Wayne Youtheatre and see displays with information about leading arts organizations supported by Arts United.
Arts United conducts a campaign each year to raise funding for local arts and cultural organizations. In its mission to support the arts, the organization also provides affordable facilities, back-office services and administers a health care plan for a wide-range of non-profit groups. The annual fund drive takes place from February through April with a goal of $1 million.
This is the third year for the Community Mosaic exhibit. This year, 50 diverse local artists, including professionals, amateurs and children volunteered for this public art project. The display represents the diverse interests and skill levels of those who support the arts in our greater Fort Wayne community. Community Mosaic will be on display until mid-April. Arts United Center patrons are encouraged to vote for their favorite panel, the artists with the most votes will win prizes.
