“New” Commissioner Brown Takes Oath of Office
Other elected county officials also sworn in at Courthouse ceremony

(December 30, 2010) – Allen County’s newest member of the Board of Commissioners was sworn in to office today.

Commissioner Therese Brown joined fellow Commissioner Linda Bloom and other County officials who were elected this past November in taking the oath of office during inauguration ceremonies at the Allen County Courthouse.

Brown succeeds Bill Brown, no relation, as commissioner from the County’s second district. Bill Brown chose not to seek reelection.

Therese Brown just completed serving her second term as the Allen County Clerk of the Circuit and Superior Courts. Prior to that elected position, she served as County Auditor from 1995-2002. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Association of Indiana Counties, a statewide organization that represents all 92 counties of Indiana.

Linda Bloom will be starting her fifth consecutive term on the Board of Commissioners from Allen County’s third district. She previously served as County Treasurer and County Auditor before becoming the first woman elected to the Board of Commissioners.

Other County elected officials who took the oath of office at today’s ceremony were:

  • Lisa Borgmann, Circuit Court Clerk
  • Tera Klutz, Auditor
  • John McGauley, Recorder
  • Kenneth Fries, Sheriff
  • Stacey O’Day, Assessor
  • Kevin Howell, Tom Harris, Darren Vogt and Larry Brown, County Council
  • Bev Zuber, Wayne Township Assessor
  • David Avery and Nancy Boyer, Superior Court Civil Judges
  • Charles Pratt, Superior Court Family Judge

In addition, trustees from Allen County’s 19 townships were sworn in.

Wendy Davis, who was elected as Judge of the Allen Superior Court Criminal Division, took the oath of office on December 21. She was unable to attend today’s ceremony due to a prior family commitment.
