Many Ways to Help the Hungry this Season
(December 10, 2010) – In this generous community it should be no surprise that so many are doing all they can to help feed hungry people this holiday season. Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana is privileged to be the benefactor of many food and fund drive efforts in the coming days. Here are a few ways that area residents can help those who need it the most:
- The Christ Child Festival, which ends today, will be accepting food donations for Community Harvest at the Memorial Coliseum. Admission is Free.
- A food drive will be held in conjunction with the opening weekend of Chronicles of Narnia the Voyage of the Dawn Treader at the Coldwater Crossing Theatre at 211 W. Washington Center Road. Food collection barrels will be in the lobby today.
- Those attending the Mannheim Steamroller concert at the Embassy Theatre on Wednesday, December 15 at 7:30pm are encouraged to bring canned fruits and vegetables, toilet paper, facial tissues and small baby diapers with them to deposit in the Community Harvest barrels located in the lobby of the theatre.
- Brooks 1st Construction is sponsoring a food drive for Community Harvest Food bank called “The Drive For A TON of Food”. Stop by the tent at 6525 Ardmore Ave. on December 16th from 8am to 3pm and drop off your non-perishable food donations. Erie Haven and Hanson Stone Quarry are also collecting.
There are many simple things that one can do to help those who are struggling this holiday season. Attached are some meaningful holiday gift giving ideas.
